I am sorry for getting this up so late.I give "Wisdom in the Age of Twitter" by David Ryan Polgar, 5 out of 5 stars
In reading "Wisdom in the Age of Twitter" by David Ryan Polgar, the first thing which struck my attention was David smooth writing style, which makes for smooth easy reading. He doesn't play with words as a means to show how intelligent he is, he speaks as if your sitting with him in the back of the house on a hammock (you'll understand why that's funny when you read the book) discussing life. He offers light to why we seem to need more information at our beckon call. His book is a must read for anyone who has thought to themselves "why do I spend so much time on the net?" I can honestly say anyone who reads this book will find themselves lost in deep critical thinking of the time they spend online.
In each chapter David asks you a question and if you take it serious it will unlock answers to missing aspect of your life. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I am going to read it again for the 3rd time, I enjoyed it that much. In this fast pace world of media, social networking and information gouging, there is finally someone who ask, "why do we need to load up so much information?"

Wisdom in the Age of Twitter A Fun and Quick Guide to Better Thinking edition by David Ryan Polgar Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
Great Read. This book was very practical and very true. There is a huge problem with society in the area of 'need it now" and Dave Polgar has analyzed it and suggested solutions-both in a humorous and simple way. Thanks Dave. Please write more books.
Be prepared to feel like he is talking directly to you and only you...wow. fun and easy read, yet highly thought provoking and so smartly written. This will definitely make you think twice about your digital usage and if you need a "digital diet" as Mr. Polgar calls it. #gotmethinking
Mr. Polgar has crafted a salient, thought-provoking, humorous and insightful look into the manner in which humans acquire information and knowledge in the 21st century. Through the use of personal anecdotes, analogies, and well-known examples from pop culture, the author suggests several useful tips to de-clutter our minds in what has become an increasingly -- and unnecessarily -- technologically complex world.
I highly recommended Wisdom in the Age of Twitter for anyone who, either occasionally or often, finds themselves immersed in too much Facebooking, Tweeting and blogging, without taking time to step back from the buzz of technology to process what exactly is happening in the world around them.
Many of us who are Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest addicts receive a gluttony of information. Much of that is useless. David Polgar confronts this overload in his book "Wisdom in the Age of Twitter". He parallels our social media indulgences with overeating. Just as we need to trim the fat from our diets, we need to take our information in moderation. In fact, it made me think of an argument for "The Power of the Pause" that Maria Shriver advocated to the 2012 graduating class at Annenberg School of Communication, instead she said that the various forms of communicating are like "breathing". Polgar's comparison is better because rather than pause for a breath, as he suggests thinking before consuming. It is a thought provoking read for many of us who are guilty of social media addiction.
This is the first book I've read by David Ryan Polgar and I was impressed with this guide and it's tips on reclaiming life from the grips of digital information. I have an IT consulting business and I've felt myself grow from an effective multitasker into a person drowning in unread or unreplied to emails, event invites that are not responded to and tasks that are never completed.
I'm constantly on the search for ideas to become more efficient and how to sift out the important from the unimportant. The book uses apt analogies relating information consumption to food consumption. It talks about how many of us feel obese in our minds from the quantity of data we are taking in. The author recommends that instead of merely gathering information, we should focus on drawing connections between the information we have already collected and that we should essentially take occassional digital timeouts. I've been working on information dieting for a couple of years now and picked up some new techniques here.
I recommend the book for insights as well as the reassurance that missing a tweet here and there and giving singular focus to important non-digital issue in the real world is okay and often a good idea.
Mr. Polgar has created a wonderful book that focuses on the notion that too much of a good thing (technology & communication) can, in fact, be bad. In our fast-paced, hyper-connected, ever-changing society, Mr. Polgar reminds us of the need for quiet contemplation and reflection - and most importantly, that occasionally we need to "un-plug" from all of our wonderful and seductive gadgets and gizmos. His book is really about that most prescious notion of balance. A good read and a good reminder to help move toward a life worth living!
It strikes a chord with my own internet-addicted, ADHD, techno-strapped life. It reads like a book of daily affirmations. This book is one to come back to and read a certain chapter each day when you feel like your info "diet" was getting out of control.
The fact that it's a book, and not a blog post somewhere on line, means just reading it takes you out of the info firehose for a few minutes (even if you do read it on an internet-connected ).
It's a great place to start for someone who's starting to feel overwhelmed with the Age of Twitter it's got a reassuring tone and doesn't try to shame you into becoming an Amish hermit in a Faraday cage.
I am sorry for getting this up so late.
